This album was released in 1973 and features performances of Bach's works by Yuji Takahashi, a contemporary musician/composer/pianist who studied music theory with Iannis Xenakis and is active worldwide alongside Toshi Ichiyanagi and Toru Takemitsu. This album features performances of "Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, BWV 1052," "Piano Concerto No. 5 in F minor, BWV 1056," and "Piano Concerto No. 4 in A major, BWV 1055" with strings by the Tokyo Bach Players. In the commentary of this record, you can read about "Bach as a failure," which he mentioned in his book "Music Lesson" published in 1976. What motivated you to perform and record this work? It is also interesting to note the use of electric piano in the second movements of No. 1 and No. 4.
